OVG finally does an iRacing league.

OVGAiRacing is our weekly Friday AI racing league in iRacing organized by The Inventor of Simulators, the CEO of iRacing, the co-owner of the Boston Red Sox, The Tire Model God Himself, David Kaemmer.

Instead of driving the car yourself, you'll now pick the skills from your allotted points for both drivers of your team. The races will be live-streamed at xx:xx GMT at https://www.twitch.tv/larguu

Feel free to read this too in case I missed some other stuff idklol https://www.iracing.com/ai-rosters/

Signup Rules

Sign up with two drivers. Use any name and team name that you want, along with whatever number you want that has not been taken.

Fill in your Driver Attributes in the note on the Skills column for each driver.

If you don't fill out the Skills column for a driver, that driver won't be entered.

If the math for the Skills column doesn't add up to 340, that driver won't be entered. Check your math.

Driver Trading

Every 3 races (after race 3, after race 6, etc) you may trade one of your drivers. Fill your "Driver Trade" cell with the name of the driver you want traded to your team. The other team will have to fill the name of the driver you want traded away in their "Driver Trade" cell. And to make sure you're not bullshitting to steal a driver from another team, message larguu in Mumble or Discord about the trade.

Race Rules

Qualifying length will be two laps.

Race will be 45 minutes, with the fuel tank size being limited to force the AI to pit. Full course yellows may be used in some situations.

Damage will be on, with infinite free repairs. This means that if one of your cars gets too broken to move, the game will take a few minutes to "tow" it back to the pits. Once the car is in the pit it'll be instantly repaired to brand new, and the driver will continue racing.

Max grid size will be 58 cars.

Driver Attributes

Your driver won't even be half as good as this.

You have a maximum of 340 points to use for each driver. For age, the more points you put into it the younger the driver will be.

Lowest skill percentage can be 0%, and highest can be 100%.

Fill in your Driver Attributes in the note on the Skills column for each driver.

Relative Skill: Driver's skill relative to other drivers in the roster. Skill determines a driver's cornering speed and driving line.

Aggression: Driver's behavior when interacting with other cars. Aggressive drivers give less room to other drivers and try more overtakes.

Optimism: Driver's confidence (or over-confidence) in their skill. Optimism makes a driver quicker but more error-prone.

Smoothness: Smoother drivers tend towards understeer while less smooth drivers tend towards oversteer.

Age: Age of the Driver. Age affects the driver's reaction time. As age increases, it also provides racing experience that can slightly improve overall performance. Range from 13 to 90.

Pit Crew Skill: More skillful pit crews are less likely to have delays during pit stops.

Pitting Strategy Riskiness: Drivers with higher pitting strategy riskiness will make gambles in their pitting strategy as opposed to making safe decisions.

FILLING IN THE AGE

The minimum age is 13. The maximum age is 90. Start at 90. Subtract from 90 the amount of points you put into the driver's age.

ex. You put in 15 points into the age. Your driver will be 75 years old. Write the Age: as 75 on the Google doc.

DO NOT PAINT THE NUMBERS ONTO YOUR CAR. THE GAME WILL DO THAT FOR YOU.

Read here to figure out how to create a skin. Ignore 2) as we won't be using Trading Paints: https://support.iracing.com/support/solutions/articles/31000133480-how-do-i-custom-paint-my-iracing-cars-

No, you can't check what the skin looks like in game unless you own iRacing, and I will not check to see what it looks like in game for you. Either create a simple colored skin that you know will look okay or ask someone else to check for you. Failing that, you can also fill in the "3 Skin Colors" in the Skills column and I will create a livery for your team with the in game paint tool. Use Hex for more accurate colors: https://www.google.com/search?q=color+picker

Submit skins to the email on the Google doc.
